AGES is excited to announce that the AGES / AAGL Focus Meeting will be moving forward as a virtual meeting on Saturday, 26th September 2020 from 9am – 4pm AEST. The meeting will feature an esteemed International and Australian faculty drawing from the strengths of both societies and promises to be one of the highlights of the year!

 

Jubilee Brown, MD, Consultant

Dr. Brown is Professor and Associate Director of the Department of Gynecologic Oncology, Levine Cancer institute at Atrium Health and Clinical Professor at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. Prior to that appointment, she was a tenured Professor at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, where she worked for 17 years. She is a board-certified gynecologic oncologist.


Dr. Brown is an expert in minimally invasive (laparoscopic and robotic) surgery and has trained physicians worldwide in these techniques. She has published widely in minimally invasive surgery, contained extraction, and rare tumors. Her work lead to the National Comprehensive Cancer Network ® (NCCN®) recommendations for modified staging in stromal ovarian tumors. She has been the principal investigator on one completed and one ongoing GOG/NRG trial. Dr. Brown has published over 75 peer reviewed publications, authored 15 chapters, and has edited an award-winning textbook on rare tumors. She has lectured on 5 continents and has contributed to leadership in the AAGL.

Linda D. Bradley, MD, Medical Director

Dr. Bradley is Professor of Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine and Director of the Center for Menstrual Disorders and Fibroids. She recently was appointed Medical Director of the AAGL.


Dr. Bradley earned a Bachelor’s degree from Vassar College before attending the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine for her M.D. She completed her residency training at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She is an internationally recognized gynecologic surgeon known for her expertise in diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy, fibroids and alternatives to hysterectomy.

Marie Fidela Paraiso, MD

Dr. Paraiso is Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Health Sciences at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University and is Vice Chair of the Women's Health Insitute at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.  She has a dual appointment to the OBGYN and Women’s Health Institute and the Glickman Urology and Kidney Institute.  Nationally, Dr. Paraiso has served twice on the Board of Directors for the American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS) 2000-2003, 2007-2010 and as the Scientific Program Vice Chair and Chair for 2011 and 2012 AUGS Annual Meetings, respectively. She has served on the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) Board of Trustees from 2012-2014.  Dr. Paraiso was the Scientific Program Chair of the 2018 Global Congress in Las Vegas, 2019 President of the AAGL, and is currently Immediate Past-President.  She educates colleagues, urogynecology, female urology, and women’s health fellows, residents, and medical students. She has lectured extensively throughout the world, reviews for 13 major journals, and has authored a vast amount of published work, including 150 peer reviewed publications, 23 book chapters,  and one book. She is currently co-editor of a textbook entitled Laparoscopic Urogynecology.  She is a proud of her work as primary investigator for the Pelvic Floor Disorders Network (NIH funded research collaboration), primary investigator of numerous prospective randomized trials, and, as previous Vice Chairperson of the ACOG Practical Bulletins Committee for Gynecology.  She has received many awards, including the APGO CREOG and CREOG teaching awards, the AAGL Kurt Semm and Golden Laparoscope Award, the AUGS Best Clinical Manuscript Award, the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons (SGS) Best Fellow and Best Member Clinical Research Papers and Prize Videos, and the prestigious Raymond Lee Lectureship in 2017.  She has been voted Best Doctor in Cleveland Magazine and Best Doctors in America annually from 2006-2020 by her peers.

Jonathon Solnik

Dr. Jonathon Solnik is the Head of Gynaecology and Minimally Invasive Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital. Although a native of Toronto, he served for 9 years as Division Director of Urogynecology and the Center of Excellence for Minimally Invasive Surgery at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles before joining the University of Toronto Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2015.
He completed his medical undergraduate education at the University of Texas -Houston, followed by a residency in Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Emory School of Medicine. Since completing a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery from MageeWomen’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, he has focused his clinical and programmatic efforts towards the advancement of surgical care for women. He has built his reputation on providing innovative and individualized care, emphasizing improvement in quality of life.
He provides minimally invasive surgical options for most benign reproductive disorders requiring surgery such as uterine fibroids (including alternatives to hysterectomy), adenomyosis, endometriosis, pelvic masses, uterine anomalies (intrauterine pathology) and certain aspects of pelvic organ prolapse. He has been listed in US News Health and World Report and named in both Best
Doctors in America and Los Angeles.
Dr. Solnik has established his academic career as a leader in surgical gynecology, recognized by international organizations for his capacity as a surgical educator. Although he is invited to speak at national and international courses, he spends significant amount of his time teaching residents, fellows and colleagues in the operating room. He was also one of the Medical Directors at the Women’s Guild Simulation Center for Advanced Clinical Skills, where he focused on implementing curriculum for surgical skill development for residents.

Cara King, DO

Dr. King is a member of the Cleveland Clinic Section of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS). She is the director of Benign Gynecologic Surgery and Associate Program Director of the MIGS Fellowship. She completed her residency training at Tufts University, Baystate Medical Center in Obstetrics and Gynecology followed by a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. While in Pittsburgh, she also obtained her Masters Degree in Medical Education from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Dr. King has spent time in Chad, Africa, as a volunteer surgeon. She also looks forward to similar work in Ethiopia, where she will teach minimally invasive surgical techniques.

Dr. King serves as the Associate Program Director of the MIGS fellowship. She has earned multiple teaching awards for education endeavors for both medical students and residents, including the Ellen Hartenbach Award in 2018 for Innovation in Simulation.

Chris Gillespie (Australia)

 

Helen Green (Australia)

Helen Green is a Gynaecological Oncologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of women with cancerous or precancerous gynaecological conditions. Helen’s other interest is the use of minimally invasive surgery to treat a range of benign and malignant conditions. She is particularly passionate about advances in gynaecology that promote improved quality of life for her patients. Helen serves as a member of the ANZGOG cervical cancer research group. 

 

Mathew Leonardi (Australia)

Mathew Leonardi is a minimally invasive gynaecological surgeon and sonologist at McMaster University in Canada, where he supervises trainees in the minimally invasive gynaecological surgery fellowship. He is simultaneously finishing his PhD at the University of Sydney, focused on the utility of ultrasound in the diagnosis and surgical management of endometriosis. He is currently involved with a number of local and multicentre international projects on endometriosis, ranging from studies on pathophysiology to novel diagnostic tools to assessment of surgical outcomes.

Stuart Salfinger (Australia)

Stuart Salfinger is the President of the Australasian Gynaecologic Endoscopy and Surgery Society. He is a Certified Gynaecologic Oncologist who also previously completed a fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery.

Stuarts particular clinical interest in Gynaecologic cancer surgery and complex laparoscopic surgery with a particular emphasis on laparoscopic management of gynaecologic cancer. He is also interested in surgical teaching and training and completed a Masters in Surgical Education.

Joe Sgroi (Australia)

Dr Joseph Sgroi is a Melbourne-based obstetrician, gynaecologist and fertility specialist at Melbourne IVF and Epworth Freemasons. His previous roles include Director of AMA and RANZCOG Counsellor and Deputy Chair of The Women’s Health Committee. Outside of medicine he has owned and operated a medical recruitment company that he recently sold to HCA and is the current Medical Director and Co-Founder of Clinic to Cloud.

Michael Wynn-Williams (New Zealand)

Michael Wynn-Williams is a Specialist Gynaecologist and lead laparoscopic gynaecologist at Auckland District health service having recently returned to New Zealand. Michael completed of fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery at CARE and SWEC. Michael chairs the AGES Workshops Subcommittee responsible the suite of workshops offered by AGES including Laparoscopic Anatomy Pelvic Dissection (LapD) and AGES Train the Trainer (AGESTT) program.

 

Anusch Yazdani (Australia)

Anusch Yazdani is an AGES past president and current AAGL board member. He is a subspecialist in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (FRANZCOG, CREI) and advanced endoscopic & robotic surgery working in Brisbane, Queensland. He is a representative to a number of national and international organizations, is widely published and lectures nationally and internationally
